Pigs with continuous fever and dry stools may develop erythroderma

Swine dermatosis usually occurs in the hot summer, especially in poorly ventilated pens. The author believes that there are two main reasons for the occurrence of swine erythrodermics: on the one hand, the manure in the pens produces a large amount of harmful gases due to fermentation and spoilage due to the excessively high temperature, especially the ammonia and hydrogen sulfide gases generated due to poor ventilation The long-term detention causes the concentration of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide gas in the pen to increase continuously, which causes chronic poisoning syndrome in pigs, manifested as erythrodermic disease.
I. Clinical symptoms: elevated body temperature (40-40.7 ° C) at the beginning of the disease, depressed spirit, loss of appetite, anemia and dyspnea. Later fatigue, severe jaundice. There may be terminal cyanosis, such as purple ears. The autopsy showed that: jaundice, anemia, yellow-red liver, markedly enlarged spleen, and small bleeding points in the lungs and kidneys. Sometimes there is ascites and pericardial effusion.
Breeding sows: abortion, oestrus failure, compounding, delayed delivery. Sows have postpartum fever, mastitis, and lack of milk. Piglets are anaemic and unable to move. Growing pigs: diarrhea, slow growth, and death caused by concurrent respiratory diseases.
2. On-site diagnosis: 1. Anemia of piglets at birth, anemia of sows, postpartum death or frailty. Postpartum fever, anorexia, sow estrus failure, repeated breeding, piglets grow slowly. 2. Microscopic blood slide examination. It can be seen that bright worms are attached to the red blood cells, and the microscope field of view can be adjusted to facilitate observation. 3. Use treatment methods for diagnosis.
3. Prevention: 1. Breeding herds do not have eperythrozoonosis. Introduce pigs to be checked during introduction. Just in case. 2. Control ectoparasites. 3. Disinfect the instruments (ear tongs, tail clippers, castration knife, injection needles, etc.).
